Multiple retailers closed an average of 14 stores a day across the UK during 2011, reduction of 0.25%, according to the Local Data Company and PWC. The hardest hit were bookshops, electrical, home furnishing, menswear, and off-licence stores. In contrast sectors that bucked the trend were pound shops, shoe shops, supermarkets, convenience, bakers and charity stores.
